Brief description of the legal entity

The University of the West of England (UWE) is based in Bristol. It comprises four campuses spread across the city, as well as regional centres outside Bristol. Formerly known as Bristol Polytechnic, it gained university status in 1992.
Journalism at UWE is part of the Faculty of Arts, Creative Industries and Education. The Department of Creative Industries at UWE Bristol is located in one of the most exciting creative cities in the UK, and has an international reputation for the high quality of its teaching and research.
The National Student Satisfaction Survey rated UWE Journalism 2nd out of all 32 universities offering undergraduate Journalism in the UK, with 93% student satisfaction. The undergraduate journalism course is accredited by the Broadcast Journalism Training Council (BJTC).
Main tasks
UWE will organise the workshop for English-speaking citizen media-bloggers on MAS. Furthermore, it will be a main task of the British partner to develop and install an online platform for MAS in Europe.
Short profile of the staff member
Mike Jempson Mike Jempson is Senior Lecturer in Journalism at UWE and a journalist, author and trainer, with 35 years experience in print, broadcasting and public relations. He is also the Director and co-founder of journalism ethics charity The MediaWise Trust. He has devised and delivered training for journalists and NGOs in more than 40 countries.
